Apple Cider Vinegar

I love apple cider vinegar. It is definitely a staple for raw vegans because it is so versatile and equally as nutritious. All apple cider vinegars are considered “raw” in the raw vegan world.

I use it in raw dressing, all types of sauces, raw “baking”, all types of salad dressing… Literally anything I make I put a spoonful apple cider vinegar in it. If you drink it on its own… I commend you. I can’t stomach it. It makes me gag. But mixing it with some fresh lemon, some spices, some cold pressed avocado oil for a salad dressing, it is just perfect. Despite it being gross on its own, (maybe it is just me?) it has SO many proven benefits. Here are just a few:

  • Natural hair conditioner: Besides eating apple cider vinegar, you can also use it as hair conditioner. My best friend SWEARS by it. All you need to do is fill an old shampoo bottle with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to each cup of water. Pour onto your hair after shampooing three times a week for super shiny hair. And no, doesn’t make your hair stink!
  • Regulates your body’s PH level: Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, which has an alkaline effect on the rest of your body. Balancing your body’s PH can reduce your risk of so many chronic illnesses like cancer and gives you a lot of natural energy.
  • Supports weight loss: A Journal of the American Dietetic Association study from 2005 concluded that vinegar consumption with a high carb-meal results in participants eating and drinking 200-275 fewer calories throughout the rest of the day. Basically, an appetite curber!

I only use one brand of apple cider vinegar called “Bragg”. It is organic and probably the best well known brand for apple cider vinegar at least in Canada and the U.S. You can find it on here:
