Cacao Nibs

Ohhh…cacao nibs! How I love thee!

Before I went raw vegan, chocolate was my favourite thing to “cheat” with and my first choice for any type of dessert. Actually, nothing has changed, except for how I consume the raw cacao bean. I now choose to eat unprocessed cacao.

Cacao nibs are cacao beans that have been separated from their husks, and broken into smaller pieces. The beans come from the Theobroma cacao tree, and the word cacao comes from the Olmec people in what is now Mexico. Cacao nibs have a chocolate taste, but are not sweet at all.

When sprinkled on nice cream, blended into smoothies, or mixed in with some sort of muesli or dehydrated with some fruits and nuts in a raw granola bar… everything becomes a desert. Omg I want some now.
